Amanuenses refers to:

·        The practice where a person (scribe / amanuensis) reads the questions to a candidate and
   writes down the candidate’s response verbatim, or

·        The practice where a candidate reads the questions and the person (scribe / amanuensis)
    writes down the candidate’s response verbatim, or

·        The practice where a person (amanuensis) reads the questions to a candidate and the
   candidate writes down the response.

CRITERIA FOR AMANUENSES

All learners will be assessed by the SBST at first.  Based on the merits of each case, the SBST will identify learners who will receive amanuenses.  This could include learners with:

·        Severe reading problems / Dyslexia

         Learners who experience severe reading problems, or, in exceptional cases, who   
   are unable to read.

·         Dysgraphia

    Learners with illegible handwriting, and is unable to use the computer for
    academic purposes.

 ·        Severe spelling problems

   Learners with severe spelling problems, with the effect that the meaning and
   content are lost due to the incorrect spelling.

·        Severe planning problems

   Learners who have severe problems with planning and organizing when it comes to
   an examination paper.

·        Physical disabilities

   Learners, who are unable to make illustrations, should receive amanuenses for that
   specific question, or an alternative question should be provided by the teacher.
